Description

Anonywasher
is a small and fast ActiveX component intended for cleaning up the history of a user’s activities on a computer with an option to securely delete sensitive information making it completely unrecoverable. It is built with no dependencies on any dlls.

The component requires an Internet Explorer or other program capable of hosting ActiveX controls to run.

Security / Privacy

During its work it affects files and registry entries on the computer. It also may affect files accessible through mapped network drives.

There are only two features yet to be added that might be dangerous in hands of and inexperienced or malicious user. They are custom wash items, that will allow a user to set a number of files and registry entries for further cleanup.

User Interface Settings

  1. Check 'Ask before washing particular things' if an 'Ok/Cancel' message box at the beginning of each step is required asking the user whether to proceed.

  2. 'Last washed' label shows the date and time when Anonywasher executed last time.

  3. Status line shows which registry entries, files and directories have being erased during the clean up process.

  4. 'Options' button brings up property pages with options to set before starting clean up process.
